During the 2nd World War of 1939 - 1945, Pierre Lorillon was an airplane pilot and participated in several air fights in East Prussia.

Pierre Lorillon (left): He was one of the last three heroes of the Normandie-Nieman squadron.
"Pierre Lorillon, Commander, Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor, formerly of the Free French Air Force who was one of the last three pilots still alive of the prestigious "Normandie-Niémen" fighter squadron died Sunday in Lumio.
He was 94 years old. Raised in 2008 to the dignity of Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor, it was President Nicolas Sarkozy who presented him with the Grand cordon during a ceremony in the courtyard of the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris"
